Clones of Google, Facebook & YouTube

As we all know the Chinese can duplicate almost everything on the earth, except human. Obviously even they can clone human, they would not want to. Look at the population in China.

I read news about China banning Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. They were about to cast Google out from China as well. Can they manage to survive with all these things banned? Apparently yes, the government is "kind" enough to develop their own version of search engine, social network and video hosting sites.

Google is one of the search engines that widely use by almost everyone in the world. The Chinese however created their own search engine called the Baidu, that used by 60% of the Chinese population.

The next we have is Facebook and RenRen. Honestly, I did not know they do own a social network as well. Obviously, all you can see in RenRen are only Chinese people.

Somehow I find the Youku name sounds very similar to YouTube. I guess that is the way how the Chinese government manages to keep the people from being informative. I highly doubt the Chinese can even view my blog in their country. Haha.

Perhaps some people already noticed those sites available, but I was still shocked to found out these. There is nothing the Chinese cannot duplicate!

p/s: BTW, there is a site to replace Twitter as well, but I do not know what was it called.

Condom Vending Machine in "The Ladies"

Since I overworked my wife, without giving her holiday and well maintenance, she suffered a brain tumour and died on me. I got no choice but to look for "entertainment" out there while waiting for a new brain transplant on her.

I have been a regular customer in an entertainment place called the ‘Nelson’. The ladies working in there are perfectly fine and they have "bigger" assets. BTW, that does not mean I do not love my wife anymore.

As I spend most of my time in Nelson, usually at night, it is unavoidable to need to go to the loo. I am a VIP, so I sit in the first floor and apparently there is no ‘The Gents’ in that floor. So the only choice for the lazy-arse is to use ‘The Ladies’.

What’s shocking is not that there are no urinals or there are girls in there. I pretty sure there are no people in there since I usually use it after the midnight. The thing is I found this vending machine.

I think it maybe common for the girls out there to know about this but not for me, a guy that does not usually enter the girls’ toilet, so... I am actually amazed. Oh well, I guess it is not uncommon for girls to have condoms in their purse these days, so I assume the machine serves the purpose.

p/s: It is £2 per-pack! I think condoms in Malaysia is much cheaper.

Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery

Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery (BMAG) is the largest local authority museum service in England.

If you ever read the news, you should be aware that pieces of Anglo Saxon gold hoard were found in the field of Staffordshire and soon been kept and displayed in Birmingham Museum.

Initially, the treasures are to move to the London Museum, but after the councils received enough donations from the public, the UK's largest haul of Anglo-Saxon treasures are able to be remain in West Midlands region.

There are plenty of arts ranges from the 10th century up to 20th century. Picture above is an example of the 14th century art gallery.

This is a grand piano. My first time seeing such an old piano. At first I thought it was a table or something.

There are local histories of Birmingham city as well. It tells about how Bullring was earlier and how it leads to reformation.

p/s: Yes, there are mummies in the museum. A real mummy!

A day before I left Birmingham to Nottingham, we had dinner in Frankie & Benny's.

I ordered a pork chop dish as I have never really try one before. Although I have seen many back then. :P It was pretty good and worth your penny.

A trip to Birmingham is never complete, unless a picture with my brother here.

University of Birmingham

I went to look for Ernest last week in Birmingham as he had constantly asked me “when are you coming over to get your things?” Haha, I am sorry for the trouble.

I had Moon to bring over some food and few pieces of clothing from Malaysia when she came to UK in the early February. As I have been busy doing my project during the first half of the year, I did not make it to meet them.

Not really an ideal trip, but I had Ernest show me around his university, museum, play mah-jong, and watching movie while drinking some beer at home. We are not able to go any other places due to “particular” reason.

Birmingham University located in Birmingham, West Midlands of England. 35 minutes away from Staffordshire. It is indeed elegant and comfortable.

They have all these green grass land in the university itself, where we usually find in student’s hall of residence.

This is the well known Joseph Chamberlain Memorial Clock Tower, the tallest free-standing clock tower in the world.

Lastly, the Birmingham University’s land god. All the students pray to him before going for exam as he shall grant you the intelligence during the examination. I also paid some respect to him. *pray pray, money money*

Yarlet House

I have been away for the past week and not much intent to blog lately. As for those who are not aware, I have finished my courses for about a month now and pretty much reluctant to look for a job. There are many things running in my mind now as for what to do for the upcoming days and months after finishing my life as a student. Anyhow, I am trying to settle down bit by bit now.

By the way, today I just moved out from my living accommodation and moved in to the other side of the hostel for summer. I can extend my stay for another three more months for good. After that I would required to move out.

I am currently living in the Yarlet House, slightly further away from Norbury House where I used to be. The room is bigger here but older. I guess it is the matter of time where I will get use to this place.

I will briefly show how my room was back then and also the current new room that I am occupying. Not much differences but I would definitely prefer the previous one.

Victoria Park @ Stafford

Every single town in UK has at least a park, and I believe the government made it compulsory for each county council to make sure they do maintain the park from time to time.

Malaysians would think of a “park” as a kid’s playground or even a rubbish dump place for some uncivilised people. Well those are the parks in Malaysia but it is completely different here. I shall not write any critics, as I am sure you can spot the differences yourself.

It is wonderful to hang out in the park during spring. The sunlight shines upon you after the months of cold-moody-season. It feels so refreshing and beautiful, resembling the scene after “the Great Flood”.

There is a bird cage somewhere in the park as well. Well, only for birds, swans and ducks are free to swim in the river. BTW, there are times where the ducks flew to my accommodation area. Haha, so unusual!

Mind Escape

Brain is a highly complex organ. It is so powerful that it allows human to control every single part of the body with nerves. Correct me if I am wrong, I am not some medical student yea?

Whoops! wrong picture!

I am facing some problem here. I cannot stop myself from thinking, especially when I am resting in bed. Imagine the brain is like some machine in a factory that keeps on running from morning until night and from night to morning. Of course, our brain is much more complicated sophisticated, but it extremely tiring.

I'm thinking... I'm thinking... I'm thinking...

I am just wondering if there is any ways or things that can aid simulate the brain and bring it down to calm and rest state? I think I need it badly. Except drugs, I know drugs definitely can keep you calm and obviously if you take more of it, it leaves you no where but some fantasy world.

I heard there is sort of burning oil where it produces some scent that helps simulating the brain. I am not really sure about it, or are there any techniques which can helps? Exercise? Diet? Haha, please let me know. Thank you.

Eligible to Vote

I know people get to vote when they reached 21 years old. I have not yet to register in Malaysia, but what's surprising is I was requested to vote in UK. Not that I am a PR holder here or even the holding the citizenship here, am I really eligible to vote?

I saw this piece of notification early morning in my room. It is an official poll card. It written...

Parliamentary Election
When you go to the polling station, tell the clerk your name and address, as shown on the front of the card.

The clerk will confirm your details on the register.

When you are given your ballot paper, go to one of the polling booths. Mark a cross (X) in the box on the right hand side of the ballot paper opposite the name of the candidate you are voting for.

The polling day is on the 6 May 2010, in St. John's Primary School. Haha, as if I am really going to cast my vote. Conservatives calls seems ideal, but it will be stricter on immigration rules, not beneficial to me. Labour party is not any better though. I would support Liberal Democrats! Haha, but it is quite impossible for them to win. Let's just have a hung parliament, that would be the best choice.

What is All About Reading?

I am a person who does not find reading as a hobby. I always believe it is hard to even look at the words in a compiled stack of papers. Perhaps I was forced to read fictional and uninteresting books in kid’s time, reading simply drives me away.

I just have no idea how people can enjoy reading story books so much, it is all fictional and make no sense to me. I am not saying this is bad, it is just not something that appeals to me. Anyhow, I got a lot of close friends who love reading and most of them are girls. Hold on… after a second though, I do not remember any girls that I knew in KL that is actually into reading. Yeah, not even one. Haha, maybe it just happened I met all non-reading type of people there.

I do enjoy reading history books though and that is the section that I always hang out in MPH. I am such a boring person am I? Haha. Back to the main point, what I am trying to say is I have never been reading so much until I got here.

Frankly speaking, I have never even borrowed a book before when I was in APIIT. It is just unnecessary back then, but hell yeah, books are everything here and I am amazed how much do I actually need it.

Back then, people think reading are for nerds and so they start using the computer. A decade later, they start calling them the geeks. If you think you are cool because you are neither, then you are wrong, you just made yourself the worst among all, the inadequate, incompetent and futile person to this world. If you happen to go to the night stalls and shopping malls frequently or even daily, you are not learning anything and simply wasting your precious time away. This sounded like me. Haha!

Must Pay To Watch TV in UK

If you are living in United Kingdom, especially the student hostel, you would be getting this plenty of times. Throughout my stay here for the past 6 to 7 months, I have received at least three to four notice letters regarding TV license.

You have to pay to watch television channels in UK. No matter if you are watching it through the normal TV, computer or any electronic devices.

Bad news is, since there is no Astro in UK, football-lovers are not allowed to watch their matches live through the Internet. No mamak here as well, unless you go to the pub. While the good news is for the TVB drama-addicts, go ahead and watch as much as you want. UK government would not bother about it.

Even if you watch live BBC news, you still need to have a TV license. Basically everything which is live, you are not allowed to watch it without a license.

What is the penalty if I watch it without TV license?

"If you are found guilty, you may face a fine of up to £1,000. You may also be liable for legal costs." In other words, you decide on your own fate. Buy it or leave it.

By the way, if you ever send me a snail mail, please kindly do inform me first. I have not been collecting letters for the past 3 months. It is nuisance going to the student post office and check if there is any letter every time.

Advice: Just be "smart" when you want to "do it". You know what I mean. Cheers!

Steamed Eggs With Milk Dessert

Throughout the weekend, I cannot resist from treating myself slightly better in food wise. This is the first time trying on this dessert. It's called Steamed Eggs with Milk dessert. I am not sure if that is the name for this dessert.

According to some other websites and also it's made from eggs, milk and steamed it all the way until it hardened.

It was made by Cherry, she told me about it few weeks ago so I demanded her to prepare it and let me try. After discovered the original look of the steamed egg and milk dessert from the Internet, this is indeed, does not look really appealing. :P But anyhow, thanks for the effort!

Stock up!

Since my assignment, project and exam period is coming, it is time to stock up some dry food. What could be the most fast and easy cook meal ever invented by human?

It has to be instant noodles!

My whole kitchen cupboard is filled with instant noodles! I have eventually cleared at least 10 packets already before snapping this picture. Not denying, I have always love eating instant noodles ever since young. I was banned from eating instant noodles by my dad before as he said it is not healthy. But I always ended up persuading my mom to cook it for me. Hehe.

I stocked it up during Chinese New Year. There was 'buy 1 free 1' promotion for all the Korean instant noodles, Shin Ramen! It only 0.59 pence for two packets! Behind the Shin Ramen are a stack of Indomee and ASDA instant noodles.

I am still enjoying great meal these few weeks. I had Bakuteh 2 days ago and ABC soup for yesterday. While I still have free time to cook, it is better to enjoy now. Cheers!

5 Things That Foreigners Often Mistaken About Malaysian

There are few things that foreigners often confuse about Malaysia/Malaysian. Thus, I am here to clarify it.

1. Not all Malaysians are Muslim. Although Islam is considered as the main religion of the country but that does not make all the people are Muslim. We are free to believe and choose our own religion.

2. Not all the people in Malaysia are Malay. I know it is normal to label the people based on the country’s name. E.g. France - French, Spain - Spanish and etc... But that does not make Malaysia – Malay. Do not take this as a sensitive issue; I was brought up to separate Malaysian based on their races. There are Malaysian Malay, Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian Indian and others. Even in the newspaper, it is always written “the Chinese and Indians…”, “the Malays…” and etc... I have no idea why they want to label us that way, we are all Malaysians anyway.

3. Not all Malaysians are multi-lingual. Partially, yes, most Malaysians can speak English and Malay languages but not all Malaysians can speak Chinese and Tamil languages. Do not simply go around speaking Chinese and Tamil languages to the people in Malaysia. They may not understand.

4. 90% of the Malaysians cannot pronounce English words in the proper tone. We tend to speak the word in blocks instead of the full word. i.e. Instead of "tomato", we pronounce it as "toh-meh-toh". However, we can speak fluent Manglish/Singlish.

5. Malay language is our national language but it does not seem useful when comes to communication. Non-Malay hardly uses Malay language, except speaking with the Malays as they tend to their mother tongue when communicating with their own race. Anyhow, English language is well accepted and understands by most people.

At first glance it looks pretty stylish with its design. I would have expected they hired some designer since ‘they’ always ~~copy~~ refurbish other’s design. It is pretty rare to find a new design from Proton itself.

According to the newspaper, this new car is invented to be the first global car, that Malaysia will be exporting it to European countries and also in conjunction of celebrating Proton’s 25th year since establishment. Based on the pictures, it seem to be rather a small car and most probably below 1.5cc.

I am wondering if the top section is also made of glass? Would not it be expensive if the front mirror breaks?

The interior looks promising but it is still very Proton-ish. Everything are in blocks and squares. It is like some cheap plastic where you can hear 'empty sound' when you try knocking it.

No price of the vehicle is available at the moment. It was told to be an eco-friendly vehicle which uses pure-electric system. The technology includes touch-screen centre console, Internet browsing capabilities and etc.

My friend once told me, the first year you leave the country there would be a bunch of friends tearing while sending you off. They would also be warm welcoming you back as well. The second time you are flying, the numbers would most probably reduces to half or even one or two of your buddies and your family members sending you off. As time goes on… it will eventually end up with ONLY ONE person sending you to the airport. A person that would be happy to send you as many times as you want without any complain… and that would be your best friend always, the Taxi driver – as long as he is getting the money.

Being away for the past 6 months, vast changes were made back in Malaysia. I guess that it is natural for people to move on to their own route and destination. Wait, I should have known that from the start. I cannot expect everyone to remain the same while you, alone are away. There is nothing depress about it, they are moving to a happier and better life. Shouldn’t I be happy about it as well? Haha.

A lot of good news I have heard and they seem to be enjoying to the fullest. It is so joyful to see their gathering and outing pictures posted in Facebook and blogs. For your record, I have been stalking on each of them. All my buddies, KL friends, Ipoh friends, bloggers, clubbers, enemies, ex-wife, second-ex-wife, third-ex-wife, ex-scandals and etc… Haha. I am keeping track on every single activities they have done! So never try to talk bad about me or plotting something evil behind me.

In any case, I am not whining or whatsoever. I just think I should post something personal in the blog once in a while. It is more like a letter to myself. Hehe. Oh well, that’s just my two pennies’ worth. Cheers!

Cheap International Call Rate via Maxis IDD 132

I was not aware with the Maxis IDD 132 until my dad told me about it previously. They actually offer quite a good low rate for making international calls.

It is rather simple to use, where you just have to dial 132 before the numbers. It is applied to all Maxis users, I am not so sure if it works with Hotlink users as well, it may worth a try.

My dad calls from Malaysia to my United Kingdom land line only cost RM0.20 per-minute! Mobile phone may be slightly more expensive though. It covers a number of countries like Australia, UK, US, China, Singapore & etc...

Chinese New Year 2010

Chinese New Year is not consider as any major celebration among the Western countries. No doubt, there will be no holidays, no excessive celebration (except in Chinatown) or any cultural activities that usually done during the celebration.

This is my first year for not celebrating CNY with my family members, meeting up with my old mates, going 'bai lin' (visiting) and getting angpows (red packet). However I must be thankful as it is only my first year, there are people who already experienced it for number of years. My friend, a hongkonger received her first red packet after been staying in England for the past 10 years.

There is nothing particular for this year CNY, most of my friends are working on the eve, so there is no reunion dinner. We only managed to eat hot pot in a restaurant at Stoke. No pictures taken for the entire celebration. Haha.

Besides that, I need to repeat myself! I received no calls or texts from any of my Malaysian friends! No one is wishing me Happy CNY, except the Singaporean bloggers that suddenly pop up a MSN conversation and start counting down for CNY.

Speaking about the advertisement by Petronas this year, it is nothing much compared to the past few years advertisements. Perhaps Yasmin Ahmad is not the director anymore. Anyhow I hope there will be a talented director that can produce a good advertisement for the coming years.

It can fits both of my blogs in the screen. Not bad, I always love big monitor. Well, who does not?

It is pretty mobile and the CPU is attached right behind the monitor. It cost £999.

It is nothing special actually, and I bet most people saw this desktop before. I just blog it for fun since I have not been updating much lately. Nothing interesting in my life these days. Oh well, wishing everyone back there a Happy Chinese New Year! =)

Exam Period (Semester 1)

This is the consequences for not studying and having any exam for a year. In additional of not knowing the standards and requirements of the new environment. If you have my facebook, most probably you would have saw these pictures.

Oh yeah, it is Fanta. Although I have no idea what brand is it, but it seems famous in some countries. Basically, these set of pictures were taken during the preparation of my first examination paper.

Following pictures were taken after the second examination. It was just a day after the first paper.

Anyway, I am so glad that I have completed my first semester! I did my FYP midpoint interview today as well. Thus, I am free for the meantime (putting aside of the FYP) and waiting for second semester to come, which starts on next Monday (18th Jan).

Most of the January intake students had completed their courses and they are leaving back to their home country this weekend. I will just have to wish them good luck and hope to see them during the graduation ceremony. :) Cheers!

Night in Birmingham

I went to Birmingham again for the second time during the Halloween last year. As I remember I did not talk much about Birmingham in the previous post due to insufficient of pictures. I will talk more about it here.

This is the Saint Martin's Church, Birmingham, located at the centre stage in St. Martin's Square and right beside the Bullring shopping centre. It is a neo-gothic architecture of the 18th century.

Well, the intention of going to Birmingham again it actually because we miss the roosted duck-pork rice there. It is so SPECTACULAR AND DELICIOUS !!

Something you simply cannot resist! Look at the 'char siu', 'siu yuk' and 'siu ngap'... OMG! £5.60 for each dish but it is definitely worth it.

This time we managed to stay until late evening to see the lights before heading back to Stafford.

Victoria Square, in my previous post, I took some pictures around there in the morning and this is during the night. =) As we walk further down the street, there are even more lovely places. Let the pictures do the talking.

Last but not least, a street full of bars and pubs. Nope, I did not go in. SERIOUS!!

Delta Force Paintball @ Lichfield

This is the first time I am playing paintball in UK. Since there was a promotion given by an agent, so we bought the tickets and give it a try.

Based on the pictures, you can see it well this event is quite some time ago. I didn't really have time to edit pictures or write anything about it.

It was really fun throughout the whole game, but the suffer part comes after the game... "This is the consequences of not doing exercise regularly!" The whole group of us suffer muscle pain for the rest 3-4 days.

It was suffering! I can't run, and I can even barely walk! The few days of pain are like hell for all of us. Anyhow, we enjoyed the game very much. If we do get a chance, we will definitely go again.

Haha, our team got defeated so badly. I think because we arrived late, we missed 3-4 rounds before that else the points would not be so big differences.

These are pretty random pictures that I happened to take when I was in my room during the lunch break.

I know I sound jakun for taking pictures of a worker who is removing tree branches, but I find it funny when I thought of the Malaysia's workers.

He is wearing a full set of uniform full with protection. Hell, there is no way you going to see that in Malaysia! Most probably you can see is a half-burnt guy (because of the sunlight) wearing an ugly orange collar T-shirt with a "baggy" pant.

By the way, he looks so professional although his job is just removing tree branches. I bet his pay is way higher than the Malaysia's DBKL workers as well.

Assignments Due

It has been sometime since I really blog. Guess what I have been doing for the past few weeks? I have been rushing for assignments and what's most surprising? Isaac Wong does study!

The pictures are not put up for a show. Haha, I really used that for references... I think. My desk has never been messier than this before.

I have been sitting in front of the screen from morning to night and from night to morning, looking at these bloody documents and researches. The due dates are just around the corner, from 2nd Dec, 7th Dec, 8th Dec and 9th Dec. And none are completed yet.

Supplies are needed for this moment. I stocked in so many chips, chocolates, gums, and biscuits. Not to forget my recent good mate, Ms. Caffeine. She helps a lot. :D

Poppy Appeal

When I first saw it was in Birmingham during the Halloween day and then I saw many lecturers were wearing it. It was definitely made me curious.

So I did some research and found out it is called the Poppy Appeal. It is The Royal British Legion (a charity organisation) that organises a fund-raising drive each year before the Remembrance Sunday, the anniversary of the end of the hostilities of the First World War.

Poppy are also used as emblems on tombstones to symbolise eternal sleep. Above is a picture taken in Birmingham that the people lay the wreath at the Cenotaph. 11th November will always be a memorable day.

Maltesers for Clean Kitchen

I remember back in schooling time, classroom that remain the cleanest will get prizes from the principal or teachers. I never know it still applies even in University level.

That's Jane, our flat keeper which comes to our flat to do the kitchen and toilet cleaning every Wednesday. Well, she has been praising us for keeping the places clean almost every time she came over.

This morning as I went to kitchen, I found a note with a pack of chocolate! I guess the main credit should be given to two flatmates. They have been treating Jane... 'nice'. Haha.

Maltesers! I find it quite nice actually. It is not that the chocolate is very delicious but it's something else that been attractive. Jane is really a nice flat keeper. =)

First Liverpool Trip

This was a pretty last minute decision to go for the trip. It was a one-day trip organised by the Caribbean society that meant to visit the National Museums in Liverpool.

Merseyside Maritime Museum shows all the ships and history that built or happened in Liverpool back then, while International Slavery Museum is mainly about the Africans that were human-trafficking by the Western power last time.

This is called the Yellow Duck Marine, also known as Water-Taxicab where you sit in and go for a tour around the area.

Anyhow, we took the initiative to explore Liverpool’s city centre after finished visiting the museums. Well, we spent most of the time walking to find places instead of shopping though.

The Liverpool's cathedral. I simply love the architectural-style of the cathedral and cannot stop looking for one in every places I go.

As for Liverpool fans out there, there are plenty of shops here selling Liverpool merchandise. We also stopped by at the stadium to have a look at it.

The Chinatown here is much bigger than the one in Birmingham. I am still wondering why Birmingham has such a small Chinatown. It should have a bigger one I suppose.

A tour around the area when walking towards to the Chinatown. Simply find the buildings are nice and steady.

p/s: This trip is free as well. Haha.

Railway Card

I do not have any interesting things to blog about lately, so this actually came up. I know this sound silly to blog about a railway card but my peeps out there might be interest to know.

Anyway, this piece of ‘thing’ (the railway card) actually cost me £26 for a year. It’s called the Young Person card for those ages 16-25. It is a discount card which saves 1/3 on rail fares throughout whole Britain.

I registered it last month when I paid a visit to Birmingham. A normal return ticket cost £8.50 to Birmingham during the off-peak hours but with a railway card, it cost only £5.60! Well, it worth a lot if you travel frequently.

Luckily, I managed to make few copies of my passport pictures before coming to UK else it will really cost me to print it here. By the way, I got my NI numbers (National Insurance) already, I can work!

p/s: If purchase the rail ticket online few weeks earlier, it may be even cheaper. Cheers!

Internet Scam

Recently I felt for a website-scam, called the DazzleWhile / DazzleSmile. They put up a fake article about a ‘mom’ and advertised it in public websites and later attract you to sign up with them when a lot of hidden T&C.

To cut it short, you are paying more than what it was shown when you were ask for your credit card details and forced to fork out money every month after subscribed. I am still struggling and trying to minimise my loss. Since luckily I have cancelled it within 14 days, I just have to deal with the first shipment that they claimed they have sent.

In university, basically settle down with the FYP topic and got myself a supervisor. I got groups for my group assignments as well. Overall things are going smoothly and will get busy once the 5th week starts.

I did not acquire the genuine memory stick which I bought from ebay. That is the reason I never believe in buying stuff online, not that I will ever try before getting down here. Anyhow, the seller promised to send me the authentic one. I will just wait.

Nothing much have been happening lately, just some random daily stuff. I went to Liverpool last weekend, so hopefully I get to update it later. Cheers!

First Chester Trip (Part II)

This Chester trip was a free trip organised by the University. There were like 4-5 buses filled with our students. Most of them are from the Stoke campus and only 1 bus is from Stafford.

This is the magnificent Chester Cathedral, dating back to medieval time. It is situated at the very centre of the city. Awesome building. I have always love these kind of heritage buildings.

St. John’s Church, one of the oldest churches in England, dating back to Saxon times and probably stands on the site of an earlier Roman temple.

Nice flowers right outside the St. John's Church. Made me smile until so happy... so unlike my friend. The flowers killed your dog meh?

Nice architecture buildings in the town centre. It is pretty busy as well.

The Chester's gothic style Town Hall, with its tower and spire was completed in 1869. The building still retains its Victorian magnificence and is a prestigious venue available for public hire.

Lastly, a group photo between the Stafford and Stoke students in front of the town hall. To be frank, I have no idea who are most of them. LOL.

Another trip like this would be fun. Manchester or Liverpool next? :D

First Chester Trip (Part I)

Chester is a city in Cheshire that located at the North West of England. It was founded by the Roman after they invaded England in A.D. 43 and was named Deva (after a river).

A wall was built around the city as defence from the Welsh tribes in Wales. Most of the wall still survives today and are a popular tourist attraction.

Quite considerable amounts of land are owned by the Duke of Westminster. He has properties in Mayfair, London as well.

This is the Roman Amphitheatre. The amphitheatre is centre of entertainment during the Roman times. In keeping with most Roman forts, it is located at the south east corner of the fort.

I do not know what is this, but it looks like some building that I used to build when playing Settler 3 last time. Haha.

I could say that, most of the places in England are full with grass. Obviously the grass is much cleaner than those back in Malaysia.

Oh yeah, I am sure you guys notice the title. Yes, there will be second part about Chester trip. Till then... Cheers!

First Visit to Birmingham

As mentioned previously, I travelled to Birmingham and meet up with Ernest there. It feels much more like city there. Well, it is a city to begin with.

We had this fantastic roasted duck, ‘char siu’ and ‘siu yuk’ rice which cost us 5 to 6 pounds in Chinatown. But it is awesomely delicious! And the portion is great.

After that we just walk around Victoria Square. Not many pictures were taken.

We saw a statue that looks like Ultraman and straight away remind us of 'Ah Fai'.

The flavour is not as strong as those back in Malaysia. I bought the curry one and it does not taste spicy at all! Haha. Just some curry smell.

This whole week I have been stop drinking and going out already. I am started to becoming back a geek that sits in front of the computer most of the time.

I have been pretty backwards in terms of technology and Internet usage in the past whole year. I have been going here and there, knowing new people and new things. There are always pros and cons in everything. You want to be computer-savvy, you spend less time in your social life or vice versa.

There are so many things that I need to catch up. Apart from the lifestyle here, the university management, lectures and everything are so different compare to Malaysia. Actually it is not advisable to do your final year in overseas. You really need some time to adapt.

There are so many unsettle tasks. I have to come out with a FYP (Final Year Project) proposal, choosing modules for this semester and trying to get along with the classmates. That would be easier when it comes to group assignment. And of course I would not be so lost.

Yesterday I spent the whole night exploring ebay and paypal. Finding out how it works. Here is all about Internet. There are e-enrolled, e-books, e-studies, virtual classroom and etc. They usually shop online as it is always cheaper in price. You can eventually do groceries online here. Amazing isn't it?

First Postal Mail

This is the first mail I received in England. Congrats me!

Okay, the letter is from the NINO Office which I requested for the National Insurance (NI) number in order to get working permit in UK.

It is not even the NI numbers yet. It is just a form for me to fill up to acquire the number. In other words, I confirm cannot apply for the job that offered by University where the deadline is on 30th SEP.

In any case, I am pleased to receive postal mails. Haha. It is as if someone remembers me and send me something from Malaysia. I feel wanted!

In fact, I never even receive any mail back in Kuala Lumpur. Only from Google and university which asked for confirmation.

BTW, I still not feeling good. I am thinking should I sell the camera off or getting a new memory card which cost me freaking 12-14 pounds.

What’s more, I received a really bad news this morning. I feel so hopeless. Sigh.

"Damn Happy"

Today is a ‘fucking happy day’ for me. I went down to Birmingham to meet up with Ernest and also getting some stuff from him as well as buying some cooking materials from Chinatown.

Guess what?

The long await camera came without a memory card. I have no idea where it dropped or lost. Not even know it is in Malaysia or England. So how am I supposed to capture pictures? I waited for so long and yet I do not get to capture picture even I have the camera.

I got a hair dryer from Ernest as well. I was drying my hair this morning and half way it stopped functioning. Smokes coming out from the dryer. Great! This is the second time I use it and it is not even a day after I getting it.

I lost my customers because I did not get them the cigarettes as promised. Never mind, this is a small matter.

Isn’t it the world is kind to me? Instead of earning money, now I have to bloody spend EXTRA money to buy a new memory card and as well as a new hair dryer. Where the previous one I have not even pay yet. HAHAHAHA!

Last but not least! The university disallow me to apply for the job because I do not have a National Insurance number yet. While the NI officer told me I can apply jobs when I am still in the applying process. Now I lost my source of income as well.

I do not know what else to say... other than... FUCK IT!

How to Avoid Home Sick

There are 5 tips on “How to make yourself feel like at home and avoid home sick”.

1. Homeland recipe book. You get to learn and cook your own native dishes instead of having foreign foods every day. Every bite of the food brings you back the taste of your homeland.

2. Decorating your room. Those who are staying in hostel or renting a room, you can always decorate your room according to your preferences. It makes you feel homely. E.g. Flower stickers on the wall, poster, pictures of your family and friends.

3. Buy a lot of pillows. This will keep you warm as well as making you feel comfortable and safe. And a nice duvet does help as well.

4. Get to know the locals. Try making friends apart from you homeland friends. You may be surprise how much fun you might get. But be careful of who you are mixing with.

5. Keep yourself busy. Try finding something to do or spend more time on your studies. Since that is the whole purpose you went overseas. Read up some of the history of the place you currently reside. You will feel less alienated.

All the tips above are solely based on my own opinions. It may not be helpful for some people but there is no harm trying. Cheer mates!

Home Sick

Pretty used to seeing people crying during their family absent. I am not heartless. I am just being realistic and accepted how thing goes. During my first moved, I learnt to adapt to the surrounding instead of hoping things change to your way. We are not babies and people have no obligation to fulfil your needs. So for those who are new... "Welcome to the real world!"

Speaking about my University, at last I took initiative to ask for all the required information for my course and settle down my rent. I was too laid back last week. At least it is all done now.

I have not been eating outside since I came here. A plate of duck rice cost £5.50, which is equivalent to RM32. How could I eat out there?? People just got pretty shocked when they found out that I can cook. If you are one of them, please do not. I used to cook during my first year in KL. It is not very nice but edible.

A meal that my flatmate and I cooked. It was 2 days ago. As for yesterday, a Punjabi Thai friend came over to cook us Thai food.

(Do not ask me about the pictures, I am not the one who took it!)

It taste pretty good but the portion was really small and there were so many of us. I wonder which part did the food went after falling in my stomach.

p/s: I will definitely learn how to cook Lasagna! Wait for my return! :P

Gathering in Stoke Campus

It is getting colder day after day. I think in a week or two, it will start raining everyday. That is going to be really boring.

The Stafford campus international students took a bus to Stoke yesterday night. A gathering of about 150 different nationalities from both campuses was held there. Stoke is much more happening than in Stafford. Sigh.

We given free dinner and later headed to a 'pub' called Ember Lounge. The surrounding is pretty boring and the music is dull. If they provide free liquor, then it would be different story.

I got to know few students in Stoke and I have no idea why are they so surprised with a Malaysian who can speak proper English. I was praised to speak fluent English, Mandarin and Malay which is so not true.

Things are going well these days. A week has just passed, one more week to go and I shall get started with my studies. It would be different by then…

In any case, I shall get ready to go to Beaconside, the Spanish guys' place for party. Hail the beers!

I got myself a Sony T-90 camera and it should be on the way from Malaysia now. Ernest will be bringing it over to Birmingham. If I am sticking to the plan, I will take a train down next week.

New International Friends

It was really good weather here for the first 3 days, bright sunlight and nice chilling climate. It was not as cold as I expected, it is just similar to the weather in Genting Highlands.

I think I am having jet lag, I have been consistently waking up at 3am/4am for all these days and that would be Malaysia’s 10am/11am.

Those who went England before told me you can never predict England’s weather. Now I am experiencing it. It was bright shining sun a moment ago, but within a minute it is dark and gloomy.

In other words…

England’s Weather = Women’s Mood.

The connection here is extremely high-speed. I am not sure if it’s because not many students are here in hostel yet or the connection in UK is simply fast.

I spent like 4.8 pounds for bus fare and had a Carling beer for 2.6 pounds in a run down bar yesterday. I guess it is a pretty good experience.

I got to know few international students here. All of them are guys, only a girl. According to the security guard, there are more female than male students every year but most of them are nurses, so they got a really messed up time table. I have not seen one up until now.

Late at night when I was about to hit the sack, they came over to my room and invited me over for booze. We had like 7.5 litres of beers and half bottle of brandy. Cheers mate!

Google in Dubai

Moving in Stafford Court

I have been sitting in the air plane for almost 20 HOURS including the flight transfer and delays. Starting from early morning in KLIA at 0200 (GMT +8) and stopped by at Dubai Airport 0400 (GMT+IDK) and reached in Birmingham Airport at 1220 (GMT) midday. Everything is happening in a day.

I guess for first day will always feeling a bit left out, getting into a new place where you do not know anyone or not even familiar with anything. Besides, it was weekend when I arrived, so the local students were back to home. As for international students, I will tell you when once I found out where they are hiding.

My room is a single bed room. Look pretty comfortable after putting up the flowery duvet cover and pillow case that provided by the University. It is a small room that well equipped with a single bed, wardrobe unit, and a desk top with chair, curtains, book shelf, waste bin, and smoke detector. Oh yeah, NO SMOKING in the room or anywhere around the hostel!!

It is located at the ground floor, which often becomes theft’s attention and having bugs control problem. Well, right outside my window are all greens and I get to see squirrel hopping around in the morning. Damn cute okay? It is quiet comparing to those rooms that facing the walkways. New Maison Night

Never Offer Bribe

This is a true story where happened to me last two weeks in Kuala Lumpur. The conversation is translated to English for international understanding.

Earlier I stopped by at the side of a petrol station to catch up with a friend that I’ve not met for months.

We had our talked leisurely until a police car appeared.

The police examined our identification cards and asked us to get down from the car to question us.

Police1: What are you doing inside the car?
Me: Urm, chatting with my friend?
Police1: Why must you chit chat in the car? There's a mamak nearby here.
Me: We just left mamak. It was noisy there so we can’t really talk.

He paused… and asked my friend to get back inside the car and wait. She followed as what the police instructed.

It continues…

Police2: Do you know that even you're a non-Muslim I can still bring you back to police station? This is a public place! *trying to be fierce*

I was like... wtf it has to do with me being a Muslim or in a public place? And what kind of attitude is that? I am not a criminal or got caught red handed with anything.

Me: We were only chatting. What is wrong with that? *trying to be nice*

He kept quiet. I guess he just failed to make me feel guilty. Then he changed the topic by questioning where do we stay, am I studying or working and the list goes on.

Police1: Do her parents know that you brought her out?
Me: No, her parents weren't around when I asked her out.

Police2: So you’re following us back to police station okay? Then call up to your parents to come over.
Me: Oh okay... but didn’t I tell you my parents are back in Ipoh? Perhaps you want them to come over? *grins*

He went speechless. I felt that he is damn frustrated already.

There goes again he repeated the questions...

Police2: Although you are a non-Muslim, this is a public place. If you want to do ‘something’ then go back home or book a hotel!

I felt that he’s testing my patience or this fucking police do not understand simple Malay language?

Me: I said we were only chatting in the car. What it has to do with going back home or booking a hotel room? Do you see us doing anything improper? Or is it WRONG to chat in the public?!

Police2: *Kept quiet*
Police1: Follow us back to the police station okay?
Me: Okay...

This is where I confirm something fishy. He seems to be hinting me ‘SOMETHING’.

If he really wants me to go police station can I even say no? Very obvious his question was… “Can you give me Raya Money? I would spare you from trouble.”

One of the police saw my friend keeps contacting someone. Apparently she knows a friend where his uncle is a high rank inspector. There he asked...

Police2: Who is she calling?
Me: A friend I guess.

They kept starring at my friend who is still on the phone and went into their car for discussion.

After a while, one of the police came out and passed us back our IC and asked us to leave. I bet they sensed that instead of getting money, they will get their ass in trouble.

When they kept repeating about calling family members and asking us to go to the police station, I can confirm they're waiting for me to offer bribes.

Well most people who afraid and do not want trouble most probably will just offer them money. But I did nothing wrong why should I be afraid and bribe these shit holes?

Hidup Malaysia! That is how we achieve 1Malaysia. =)

Nocturnal Trip

It was a very random night. I was drinking in Ajimal with Terrance up around 12am. Moon and the rest came over after a birthday party in Cheras.

Ironically, all of us have this same thought of going up to Genting for a drink. Therefore the whole bunch of spontaneous nocturnal people went up to the hill.

Nothing much for the night, all we did was just chilling, drinking and taking pictures. Haha, random stuff.

It was drizzling that night, so it was kind of misty and cold. I was freezing with my shorts. *wooo!*

Ah, I was pretty down that night, so the outing occurred just at the right time. =)

My 22nd Birthday

I did not really celebrate my birthday this year. I just managed to have dinner with my buddies, the Mok’s crew. Sorry if I left out some of them as I was in tight budget.

At first I planned to celebrate for two days for two different groups of friends but only make it for a day due to some problem faced.

I received few presents this year and I know some of them actually planned to get me a watch instead. Haha. I am glad. It is the thought that counts.

After the dinner we went to Moon's place for a drink. We played poker and also the pyramid-drinking-game. Victim is shown below.

I am very much appreciated to all of them and sorry to those that I did not make it to celebrate with them.

Flying a Kite

As previously mentioned, my buddies came over to look for me in Kota Kemuning. We went to the first roundabout to chill.

Anyhow, as we reached the place, there were few people flying kites around the area and it simply caught our attention.

Based on my recalled memories, the last time I ever fly a kite was back in 6-years-old. That is really ages ago.

Kites nowadays are so mobile and easy to set up. Unlike back then, we have to purchase the 50 cents ‘Ultraman Kite’ which cannot be fold and string is needed to tie it to a stick or a can drink as a holder.

Surprisingly, it is so easy to fly a kite now. Just a lift of the kite and it went straight up to the sky.

Results of failure to manage the kite... it went down to the lake.

Lastly... wishing someone was there as well...

The End of Industrial Training

I have been spending the whole week in Ernest's place in Sri Petaling. I realised I could live without my own laptop. Perhaps after the great lost of Miyuki, I learnt not to depend so much on my 'wife'.

I have been fully utilised my holiday by turning back into my former nocturnal life, having ‘early’ breakfast every 3am, playing mah-jong from night until the next morning and attending friends’ birthday parties.

I know it is freaking unhealthy lifestyle, but man... if you don’t do this now, when are you going to do it? I learnt how much fun is a student’s life when I started my industrial training for 3 months which ended last month.

My pay is only RM500 per month, now you understand the reason why am I still freaking poor even I am working. In fact, I have to fork out money to pay for transportation fees.

Few things I learnt in these 3 months time.

Never work in a place that is far away from your home. You have to wake up freaking early and stuck in the jam every morning.

Office work is freaking boring. You sit in front of your computer from 9am to 6pm. Yes, that was my desk in office. A small one.

You can easily get close with all of the employees. Anyhow, I would like to take the opportunity to thank them for everything in the whole 3 months. Thank you.

Differences Between Men & Women

Earlier I had a conversation with a friend about the differences between men and women. We often complain it is hard to understand the different gender. The far most common example is always about "friends".

She says: "Why is he always hang out with his buddies? Is he dating me or dating the buddies?"

He says: "Why she still complains even I am going out with a guy but not a girl?"

What is really holding us back from understanding each other? I would say that both men and women were created differently. That is something no one can change. But we could take time to understand each other.

This is something I have been reading some time ago.

- Man was formed from dust.
- Woman was formed from flesh.

- Man was placed in the garden alone.
- Woman was brought to the man so they could be together.

- Man was created with a need.
- Woman was created to fill a need.

- Man's job was to work.
- Woman's job was to help man with his work.

- Man's job was cognitive.
- Woman's job was emotive (meet the need of the man)

- Man gave woman her name.
- Woman received her name from him.

- Man's body was created to give a seed.
- Woman's body was created to give life.

Below are the gender roles that what we understand from the Bible. You may not be a Christian, but it's something relatively correct.

- Men need respect and support.
- Men are naturally self-oriented.

- Women need to be cherished.
- Women need security.
- Women need to be treated with tenderness and gentleness.
- Women are verbal creatures.

There is no perfect human being, no one is superior, and no one is weaker. There is no perfect couple, but being in a couple, trust and understanding is the main key for the relationship to last. Understanding is in terms of knowing the behaviour and willingly to compromises yourself for the partner.

According to Genesis 2: 18-25 (The Creation of Eve)...

- Eve was made for man.
- Eve was made from the man.
- Eve was brought to the man.
- Eve was named by man.
- Man is the head; he is responsible for the woman.

Responsible is a very strong word, never use it unless you are ready to face all the consequences. Genesis 3:16-18 shows the effect of the curse on both Eve and Adam. Adam had to face the responsible and consequences that what Eve did.

p/s: Some may not agree with the statements above, but I could say majority of the men and women fall under this category.

A Little Birthday Card

Guess what time I reached office this morning? Bloody 9:45 AM!! I departed as the usual time, but thanks to the Damansara toll area again, I stuck in the jam for almost an hour.

Thank God I am not driving :P

I was sitting right in front of my table and suddenly my colleague approached me and gave me 2 tiny balls.

I meant, 2 Ferrero Rocher with small little cards behind of it. I stoned for a moment, then I turned left and look at my supervisor's table. There is only one. Then I turned right to my manager's table, there's NONE! (Okay-lah, he ate it. But it's also one only).

Wonder why am I so special having 2 balls instead of 1? Don't get me wrong, I still have my both "great barracks that producing billions of Spartans every second".

So I took the little card and have a look on it...

It's a small little Birthday card, how thoughtful she is :) Thank you very much, Chin Feei.

BTW, this week is the last week of her industrial training, that is also the reason why she's giving all of us chocolate. She will be back to University and continue her final year of degree.

June 23 : The Alpha

Things have never been so different ever since I know her. She brought me the feeling that I've lost and thought it will never be back again. I put no thoughts that anything would happen between us, but things just start off slowly and as time goes on we got closer.

She brought smiles upon my face, which I could never imagine. The moments we spent together was wisely arranged as there are boundaries. Although those moments were short, but it's definitely memorable and will always remain in my heart.

During the 'yearly day', I did not expect she will actually go against the dark and live with me in the light. However, everything seems too easy… After all, great things never last. When the night falls, things were back to square one and got worsened. We had awakened the ‘dark one’, the one who has been holding her in the darkness. She could not run away but to face it.

Right before she went back, I added, “No matter what it is, we’ll face it together. I will never give up on you, no matter what I will be facing next.”…

SPCA Charity Result

As I had blog about this earlier, I've formed a SAVE1CICAK group in SPCA to raise fund for the kitties and doggies.

Apparently there's a section of the website which able us to check how is your group doing. It's called the Love Bank. Simply click on the Love Bank and numbers of charity society being listed. Click on SPCA.

Figure above shows all the groups formed under SPCA. If you notice the small little SAVE1CICAK@SPCA group there. We have already raised RM75 in total!

This are the list of people who joined and contributed their effort in raising fund for the charity. There are 15 people including me, which each represented RM5.

A 'Coffin' as Souvenir

Recently IBM had organised a seminar in One World Hotel and our company was invited. Since the seminar is about data-security, my supervisor sent me for it.

Actually the seminar does not compromising much. It just like those event I used to work for previously. i.e. Microsoft Tech Ed and SAP. It's a talk about their new IT solution.

I was given a file with some of the details about the products in it. And a small notepad after giving back the feedback form.

During the seminar, I saw this "coffin" (small wooden box) on the table. Each of the delegates was given one. It simply caught my attention and curiosity out of it.

It was given by the One World Hotel. What a weird box, don't you think so?

So I tried sliding it open and have a look what's in it. (Sound like opening the coffin to find out whose in it)

Ta da! It's a complete basic set of mini stationery.

Haha, so cute right the mini stapler? Lol. Not bad, even though the box is ugly.

Tips to Improve Fuel Economy

I am sure most people especially those who are paying for their own fuel gets really heart ache when seeing their fuel bar dropped like nobody's business.

Here are some very good tips on improving your vehicle's fuel economy. With increasing fuel prices it is becoming more and more prudent to use them.

1. Use your gears wisely.
Driving in the highest gear possible without labouring the engine is a fuel-efficient way of driving. A vehicle travelling at 60kmph in third gear uses 25 percent more fuel than at the same speed in fifth gear.

2. Drive smoothly
Avoid accelerating and then braking! By applying light throttle and avoiding heavy braking, you can reduce both fuel consumption and wear and tear.

3. Switch off your engine
a) Switching your engine off for short periods of time can actually increase fuel consumption, as it requires more fuel to get the engine started.
b) If you are stopped for more than a few minutes then your car will simply burn less fuel with the engine stopped.

4. Drive off promptly to prevent wasting fuel
Don't leave your engine running when you first start up. Drive off straight away if you can, but drive gently until the engine has reached its normal operating temperature. It does mean your engine is switched on for less time.

5. Tyre effect fuel efficiency
It is estimated that about 50% of tyres on the road are under inflated. Aside from increasing the rate of wear, this wastes fuel and decreased your fuel efficiency. Check your tyre pressures every fortnight.

6. Car Windows
Driving with your windows open drastically reduces your fuel efficiency, far more so than putting the air conditioning on when motorway driving. Of course the air conditioning decreases fuel efficiency too, so try not to over use it.

7. Lighten your load
Think carefully about what you need on a journey. if you do not need something, do not pack it. Remove roof racks if not needed. The lighter the load, the lower the fuel consumption, and emissions, and the higher the fuel efficiency.

Last but not least, service your car according to time/mileage that helps to maintain and ensure your car always in good condition. Cheers!

Interesting Work Day

Today is definitely an interesting day. I watched the latest show called “The Pork Noodle Man vs. Tau Fu Fah Man” when I was having breakfast before going to work. Haha.

The story is about TTF Man (TauFuFah) asked the PN Man (PorkNoodle) to remove his car from the parking lot so he can do his business there. PN man refuses and questioned the TTF Man, why he should remove the car when it is a public parking lot? Both TTF Man and PN Man got so ‘dulan’ and started pushing each other and then... fight-loh. It’s pretty cute to find those people who don’t fight to fight. Definitely different from what we watched in those martial arts movies.

It’s all normal in the office, being sleepy, struggling to debug the programs and all until my supervisor assigned me to download resumes where the applicants uploaded to the K3G event (Job Fair).

I have no idea if this applicant think we are dumb or he is really dumb. Sending us a (.exe) file. LOL.

So I decided to download it and have a look what he uploaded. Although I have already suspected it must be some shit.

Haha, as expected. Backdoor.IRC.Bot, a trojan horse. He simply not good enough to harm any literate users.

Oh, there's one sending us (.bat) file somemore. Such a computer illiterate, how can any IT company hire her?

Well, I had a great working day today followed by Happy Hour. Haha.

MDG Season 2 Finale

I am not a fan for Malaysian Dream Girls, in fact I did not watch the whole season 2. Since everyone is going for the event, so I thought of joining in the fun as well. I would like to apologize to those who standing around me, as I tend to asking who are those contestants. Anyhow, they only got to answer me the top 3 contestants' names.

I personally like Dawn, as she has dimple on the face that made her very pleasant looking. I would not judge on the catwalk, which I totally no idea how is consider good or bad. Oh yeah, she got 2nd runner up.

As for Pinky, the 1st runner up, she was okay all along not until the end of the show where I saw her repeating pushing and stopping her mom from kissing her. What is so embarrassing having a picture of your mom kissing you is taken? The mother was so happy and proud of her daughter and yet she just denying her. I am simply disappointed.

The champion Juanita, well she has the height and also better body than the rest. Not much comment about her. Oh yeah, congratulations.

I do not bother much about all these voting-competitions, almost all of them are simply gimmick and for the reason of profits. I was lucky to get the ticket a day before the finale, thanks Hitomi for that.

The whole event is pretty boring and nothing much. After the event ended, we march forward to the burger stall in Subang SS15.

Dragon Boat Festival

Wow, I get to eat zongzi (rice dumpling with red bean filling) this year! When you are not with your family, you totally would not remember any of those Chinese traditional festivals. Not that the modern people nowadays would keep track of all these.

My brother-in-law brought back 3 zongzi from his contractor. It is just nice for the 3 of us, him, my sister and me. Although I don't really fancy the rice dumpling, but I just enjoy at least eating one in every year.

The day has also been made as a boat racing festival. I wish I could witness at least once of it. Happy Dragon Boat Festival!

Terminator Salvation Premiere Screening

A night before the movie just when I was about to go to bed, I received a message in MSN. It was wenpink. She invited me for the movie and added "Apparently one winner gets 2 tickets, I just now only know!" All right, I am glad she found out before its too late. Haha.

Besides, I have no idea who is going until I saw the whole bunch of nuffnangers there. We arrived around 730pm and headed to Manhattan Fish for dinner. As always, blogger takes picture wherever you go.

Our Mother Earth

Earth Day in Malaysia has ended some time ago. The Earth day is widely advertised everywhere, but do we really know what the point of doing it is? People often think, "I am only represented as 1, it does not make any differences if I do or not".

That is absolutely wrong. Every single creature in this world has an ability to either preserve our Earth or just destroying it.

By conserving energy, we can slow down the global warming process which currently progressing rapidly. The end of the world is driving closer and closer. Aren't you aware the weather currently is very abnormal?

Saving the world is not just participating in Earth Day or any other events only, but we can also give a help out in our daily life. 1) Switching off any unused electrical appliances, lights, fans, and air conditions do help. These electrical appliances do generate heats.

2) Go green! Avoid printing/taking receipts if not necessary unless for claims. We should not be really wasting the paper, even when I was a little boy then my parents always told me to not waste.

3) Support paper bags, avoid using plastic bags. There are numbers of countries already implemented the system. Earlier I went to Hainan, China, each plastic bag cost additional RMB 30-50 cents and RMB 1 dollar in shopping complex.

Let's not get any further; I know most people would just ignore all the content I wrote here. Actually I found these pictures very nice and thought of inserting some information to share. Let's hope the coming generations able to capture all these nice scenes as well!

LG Blog Launch Party @ Metropol Bar, KL

Are you a Devilish blogger?

I was invited to attend the LG Blog Launch by Nuffnang. I brought a guest and instead of me being the one who register, the person asked my guest to register. Haha. So I turned out being the guest of my guest. Well, she's famous, that explains it all.

We were late for the event, as usual. Girl just need time to be pretty. Basically this is not any big major event, but a party for the launch of LG blog. A lot of angels models were in the event as well.

Nice decorated with helium balloons and with the white and red theme. They invited Serena C and William Quah as the MC for the night. It was entertaining. There's a competition for the best dressed angel, best dressed devil and the confused one.

The nice part of this event is... free flow for the night until it finishes all the vodka, beer and juices. Anyhow, it's still much generous compare to the Hennessy Artistry event. Right after the event ends, the free flow stopped as well.

AMBP Gathering for Star Trek

I piled up a bunch of old events and have no time to blog about it yet. This is the AMBP (All Malaysian Bloggers Project) Gathering for Star Trek. As mentioned in earlier post, I got to watch the movie earlier before its official launch that is because of this gathering.

The places were filled up with bloggers, media and Star Trek-die-hard-fans. There are numbers of them dressing up like the characters in the movie. We had ice breakers, Q & A session, interesting treasure-hunting event, and also watching the movie.

Well, let's not get into the boring "how-the-event-goes" and all. What bloggers do other than just blogging? The answer is... taking pictures! Let pictures do the talking.

Happy Mother's Day

I did not get to go back hometown to celebrate mother's day for this year as well. I missed 2 years already. Early in the morning (during Mother's Day, yeah, I have delayed my post), I wanted to call her and wish her "Happy Mother's Day", but due to insufficient of phone credit, I didn't. Then I thought of texting her only but that would be very insincere. Although I know she wouldn't mind and still be happy with it.

Instead of sending her 'Happy Mother's Day' in English, I typed it in Chinese character itself. She preferred Chinese as she was Chinese educated. For those who know me well, I am a 'banana' (a Chinese who does not know Chinese). In fact I can only converse in Chinese but I cannot read or write.

It did took me some time and effort to learn and write Happy Mother's Day in Chinese characters. It may not be anything special, but that's definitely not something I would do. In fact, I hate learning Chinese. Hehe. I just wanted her to know how important she is for me and I am willingly to do anything to make her happy.

Mom, you are the woman I care the most, thank you for loving me. Happy Mother's Day (母亲节快乐).

Second Day of Work

The second day of work is much more interesting compare to the first day, where I was forced to be hard labour. I was there looking for functional hard disk from the store room, formatting it, installing OS and applications. It bored me to death.

The next day, I started doing a tester’s work. I was assigned to test the Malaysia Government Custom's website. They have this some sort of website and a front end programme for importers and exporters with privileges. The users of this website would possess a smart card that can authenticate and that ease their transactions with the customs. Need not queue like the rest.

What's the most surprising part is, besides getting pay for working, I tend to get other stuff as well! I was half way working at my place; the boss just came in and gave each of us this...

A BIG FAT MANGO!!

He said it was given by a client, so he shared it with us, the employees. Not bad right? When I told others in Innit, all their responds were like.... "What company you are working at? I thought it’s an IT company? Why got fruit one?"

It is okay. When I reached home after work, my sister gave me the same 'wtf' reaction as well. Who doesn't? Haha.

- Given a bed when I did not sleep for more than 48 hours.
- Given to relief my bladder after 3 hours of holding it.
- Given a comforter when I are freezing cold under the snow.
- Given a can of Coca Cola after marathon under the burning sun.
